January 13, 1999; Hampton, NH -- Unitil Corporation (AMEX: UTL) announced the appointment of Robert Bisson as Director, Distribution Operations Center for Unitil/Fitchburg Gas & Electric Light Company (FG&E). This newly created position is responsible for the day to day operations of the gas and electric utility.

Mike Dalton, President and Chief Operating Officer of Unitil said, "Bob brings a wealth of operations, engineering and construction knowledge to FG&E. He will be a valuable asset in developing FG&E into a best of class distribution operations center."

Mr. Bisson is a utility operations executive with 19 years experience working in the NEES system of affiliates: Massachusetts Electric, Narragansett Electric and New England Power Service. He has a BSEE from the University of Rhode Island and an MBA in finance from Bryant College. He is married and the father of one son.
