Unitil/Concord Electric Company Recognized for 5-Year Safety Record

Concord, NH; April 13, 2000: Unitil/Concord Electric Company (CECo) has received an Outstanding Service to Safety Award in recognition of 60 months without a lost-time incident. Lyman A. Cousens, Executive Director of the Safety & Health Council of New Hampshire, presented the citation to the men and women of CECo.

"It’s the people that make it work," said Cousens. "Among our Council’s more than 800 member businesses, individuals and associations, you have won high honors because of your commitment to safety -- from top management all the way through the organization -- day in and day out. You have earned our awards many times in the past, and I hope to be here again next April to celebrate your sixth year without a lost-time incident."

CECo’s performance represents more than 400,000 work-hours over the last five years. Throughout that period, there was not a single injury to any of CECo’s employees that resulted in lost time.

"This kind of safety record doesn’t just happen," said Eric Werner, Director of CECo’s Distribution Operations Center. "It involves constant vigilance, thorough planning, anticipating potential dangers on the job, and looking out for co-workers. Zero lost time doesn’t happen without every employee taking personal responsibility for job safety, all the time."
