Hampton, NH – October 17, 2001: Unitil Corporation (AMEX: UTL) (www.unitil.com) reports that its wholly owned subsidiary, Fitchburg Gas and Electric Light Company (FG&E) has recently completed improvements at a number of multifamily complexes which are targeted to save energy and reduce residents’ monthly energy bills. Unitil/FG&E provided energy saving improvements to the Whispering Pines, Wallace Towers and Fitchburg Green properties under Unitil/FG&E’s energy efficiency programs.

Improvements provided by Unitil/FG&E to the Whispering Pines complex included insulation and weatherization services, which are estimated to save residents over $7,000 in annual energy costs. Unitil/FG&E provided Energy Star lighting and weatherization services to the residents at the Wallace Tower apartments and the Fitchburg Green apartments. Savings at each complex are projected to exceed $14,000 annually.
