Hampton, NH - January 11, 2005: Unitil Corporation (AMEX:UTL) reported today that its customers in New Hampshire will see a slight decrease in their bills effective February 1, 2005, as a result of the cancellation of a Restructuring Surcharge.

A residential customer with a 500 kWh bill of $56.15 will see a decrease of $0.50, or 0.9% to $55.65. Other rate classes will see similar decreases.

The Restructuring Surcharge, which has been in effect since December 2002, provided for recovery of the costs associated with the implementation of electric restructuring and customer choice of competing electric energy suppliers. Unitil is terminating the surcharge because it has completed the recovery of these costs.
