Unitil-MA Electric Rates in Massachusetts to Change January 1
Hampton, NH (December 2, 2005): Unitil Corporation (AMEX:UTL) announced today that its
Massachusetts subsidiary filed its annual reconciliation filing, which changes various
Delivery Service components of its electric rates, with the Massachusetts Department of
Telecommunications and Energy (MDTE). The various rate changes, if approved as filed,
will increase electric bills by 1% to 3% as of January 1, 2006.
A typical residential customer using 500 kWh per month will see their bill increase
$2.58 to $102.36 per month, or 2.6%, as a result of the changes to the Delivery Service
components of the rates. Impacts for other customers will depend on customer class and
usage level. These rate changes are unrelated to the cost of electricity supply.
This filing is required annually under the Massachusetts Electric Restructuring Act and
accomplishes several objectives. Specifically, the filing reconciles and resets various
regulated rate mechanisms and certain Delivery Service rate components.
Unitil Corporation (AMEX:UTL) at www.unitil.com is a public utility holding company
with subsidiaries providing electric service in New Hampshire, electric and gas service
in Massachusetts and energy services throughout the Northeast.
