We work in conjunction with other Maine utilities to collaborate with this group that oversees energy efficiency program administration, providing a key pathway for us to partner with you to save energy resources, add greater home comfort and convenience and reduce your monthly energy costs.

Unitil has partnered with the gas and electric utilities throughout the state to offer our customers the family of Mass Save Programs.
The Mass Save Home Energy Assessment / Home Energy Services Program offers a 75% rebate up to $2,000 to improve the energy efficiency of our customers’ homes through weatherization. This fuel-neutral weatherization program offers a comprehensive “whole house” assessment of their home. The assessment is an energy and safety evaluation of the home that includes an inspection of lighting and appliances as well as performance testing of the ventilation and mechanical systems, building tightness, and insulation levels that will result in recommended energy efficiency improvements. When you participate in the Home Energy Services Program, you'll save on energy bills and enjoy a more comfortable home year round.

Unitil has partnered with Energy Star to offer our customers the New Hampshire Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program. This fuel neutral weatherization program offers participants a comprehensive “whole house” assessment of their home. The assessment is an energy and safety evaluation of the home that includes a visual inspection of lighting and appliances as well as performance testing of the ventilation and mechanical systems, building tightness, and insulation levels that will result in recommended energy efficiency improvements. Based on recommendations made by your auditor, you may be eligible for a 50% rebate up to $4,000 to help you pay for these improvements.

Gas ENERGY STAR® Homes
An ENERGY STAR rated home is substantially more energy efficient than a standard home.
Developed by the Department of Energy(DOE) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the ENERGY STAR Homes Program is a nationwide effort to make new homes more energy efficient. As a sponsor of this program, Unitil can show you how to build and certify your new home to ENERGY STAR specification and earn financial incentives.

Gas Residential New Construction
The Unitil Residential New Construction Program is designed to promote energy efficient building design and consruction practices. Incentives for energy efficient new construction range from $350 to $7,000 per unit.

Unitil is offering its gas heating customers hundreds of dollars in rebates for heating and water heating equipment that meet or exceed certain efficiency ratings. Our goal is to educate our customers on the benefits of high-efficiency natural gas heating systems and high-efficiency water heating equipment.

Income-Eligible Services
Unitil has partnered with the Massachusetts Association for Community Action (MASSCAP) and the Low Income Energy Affordability Network (LEAN) to offer qualifying households low income energy efficiency services. This statewide program provides no cost energy efficiency improvements to income-qualified households that make your home and appliances more energy efficient, reducing your total energy consumption and saving you money on your monthly utility bills.

Unitil has partnered with New Hampshire's Weatherization Assistance Network to offer our customers the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). This statewide program provides up to $5,000 in energy efficiency improvements to income-qualified households that may be especially vulnerable to increasing energy costs. All products and services provided by HEAP are provided to qualified participants free of charge.
