Our top priority is to deliver safe and reliable electricity and natural gas. Sometimes Mother Nature, accidents and other unforeseen circumstances can cause a disruption in power.

Electric Restoration Updates

During normal operations, our interactive electric outage map provides real time updates as to current outages, the number of customers impacted and the percentage of customers without power in a given community. Outages are designated by colored bubbles on the map. A bubble’s color and size changes depending on the number of customers impacted. By hovering over a specific outage bubble, additional info including an estimated restoration time is provided when available from the field.  The outage map only reports known outages; customers must still report an outage to make sure existing issues are in the system. Use our online outage form or call our toll-free number, 800-852-3339 (Capital-area customers) or 800-582-7276 (Seacoast-area customers) 888-301-7700

Should a major weather event occur and a damage assessment phase is needed, the estimated restoration times for each bubble will read “assessing” until a time is available. Click here for a list of frequently asked questions.

Unitil on TwitterWe post electric outage and restoration updates on our Twitter feed (shown right). This allows us to provide real-time updates in an accessible manner for localized outages.  While we may not "tweet" each issue that we respond to on our system (largely due to singular customer issues), we do post outage updates that affect groups of customers in our Massachusetts and New Hampshire service territories. We are happy to respond to any customer inquiry if you are currently experiencing an issue and are unsure of your restoration status. You may also contact a Customer Service Representative for similar information.  We cannot take or report an outage for you via Twitter.

You can reach us regularly on Twitter between 9am - 5pm, Monday through Friday, though we do have coverage during non-business hours. We monitor and update the feed more frequently as emergencies and weather events call for it.

We will typically post PSAs, pre- and post-storm information, news releases and restoration updates for widespread outages and interruptions on this web page as well.
