Unitil Plans Career Fair To Recruit Vets

2nd Annual Veterans Day Career Fair will be held Nov. 10 in Exeter
Exeter, NH

Unitil Corporation, a provider of natural gas and electricity to customers in New England, is reaching out to veterans interested in exploring potential job opportunities with the company by hosting its 2nd Annual Veterans Day Career Fair on Nov. 10.

The event is open to the public and will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Unitil’s Seacoast operations facility at 30 Energy Way in Exeter, N.H.

This is a unique opportunity for veterans to meet with company representatives to discuss options for employment in the utilities industry.

“Based on our experience, veterans have a track record of possessing the four central values that are key to our organization: Respect, Integrity, Stewardship and Excellence,” said Unitil Media Relations Manager Alec O’Meara. “We recognize the value veterans bring to the workplace, but have found that connecting with transitioning service members and veterans seeking employment is oftentimes a challenge. Because they’re in high demand and these values are ingrained in them, Unitil has made dedicated efforts to find and hire veterans.”

Unitil held its first career fair targeting veterans last year and hopes to see an even greater turnout this year as the company is hiring for positions in a number of areas, including utility lineworkers, software developers, engineers, gas service workers, and meter technicians.

The company has been working to expand its diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, which involve recruiting from a diverse talent pool that includes veterans and hosting a career fair. “We believe we’re a stronger company when all voices and perspectives are represented,” O’Meara said.

Recently named one of Business NH Magazine’s “Best Companies to Work For,” Unitil offers flexible work schedules; competitive 401k match and additional company contribution; generous HSA contributions; educational assistance and paid training; paid vacations, holidays, parental leave and company paid short-term and long-term disability; and value added benefits, including adoption assistance, employee discount programs, and home and auto insurance.
